New Believer

You have made the most important decision of your life, choosing to follow Jesus. As a new believer, you have questions. You prayed and asked Jesus into your heart and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, but now you want to know what that actually means. First, you need to know you are headed in the right direction. Jesus has saved you by dying on the cross in your place.

Second, you need to know that you have been given a new life! The Bible says, “Those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

As a new believer, you can expect to have new attitudes and desires. You may need to replace some old habits and patterns with new activities that will help you to grow in your new life with Christ. Growth takes time, but it begins right now – where you are.

  • Attend church regularly. Worshiping and learning in community with others is one of the best ways to re-align yourself with God.
  • Attend theChurch’s Growth Track. These 4 classes help you discover how to release your God-given gifts, talents and abilities as you grow in knowledge about Christ.  This 4-week session is held every Wednesday at 7pm.
  • Read your Bible. God’s Word is meant to be woven throughout our lives, giving us new wisdom with each season we experience. It’s the story of His love for us since the beginning of time—something best enjoyed daily.  The truths in this great book are going to come alive to you as the Author has taken residence in your heart.  Start with the Gospel of John, which is the story of the life and ministry of Jesus.  Commit passages of scripture to memory.  The Psalmist wrote, “Your word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you.”  Psalm 119:11
  • Pray. We have the privilege of a direct connection to the Creator of the universe. Through prayer, God addresses our deepest hopes and fears, gives us direction, and expresses His love to us.
  • Get Baptized. Baptism is our way of telling the world about our relationship with Christ. Jesus did it, and it’s an important way we can follow His footsteps.
  • Share with others. Let others know how He has changed your life, and perhaps even invite them to come to Church with you.
